Use Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner from the following link if you do not already use them. EDIT: this comment from Stork is vey good advice; You will be able to either install on top of your Snow Leopard installation (Quickest) or do a new fresh installation and pull all your apps data over from the other drive (this option is slower and migration assistant sometimes does not work well) Please check your apps that you are using in Snow Leopard will work in Mavericks. Mavericks runs completely as a 64bit system and will not support any Rosetta supported apps or 32bit apps that will run in Snow Leopard. If you have any of these then you may wish to continue with Snow leopard or have a second installation for Mavericks. Enjoy Adrian B. J made nearly full working Hackintosh on ThinkCentre Lenovo M57 and install OS X Mavericks 10.9.2. All working very good but is problem with sleep and computer dont completly shutdown.
My configuration Lenovo M57 SFF Quad Core 8200 2.33 GHz PCIE graphic card NVidia 8400 GTS 256 MB 4 GB DDR 2 Sound on board SATA HDD 160 GB Intel Gigabit Ethernet PCI WiFi Tp Link WN751ND - need add device ID only Installed Mavericks 10.9.1 and update to 10.9.2. J use Multibeast 6.1. PCIExpress Graphic card NVidia 8400 GTS works out of box.
Sound on board J use Voodoo drivers 0.2.1. Power Supply 280W is adequate to use with quad and low end NVidia Graphics card. NVidia 8400 GTS has passive cooler and very high temp up to 90C so J must add another coolers. Now temperatures is about 70 C.
J think that better card is newer NVidia GT 520 that is compatible too. Case M57 is very small it is SFF and need proper cooling. Geekbench is about 5000. Internal graphic card GMA 3100 is working OOB but give resolution only 1024x768 and no ICQ.
With this card computer shut down properly and no sleep of course ( After change to extermal GFX computer dont shutdown and no sleep. About PowerManagement J get only too CPU states: 6x - 1999 MHz and 7x 2330 MHz and dont know that is possible get more states. Editing SSDT no change. All works excellent but computer dont shutdown properly and no sleep. Now J search for any clue to solve this.
Hi Nice to hear back from you. I picked up an Asus silent GeForce 210 which I have read is pretty easy to get installed under most Mac OS X versions.
It just requires a plist update. I want to stay with Snow Leopard due to the hardware and software I intend to use. I need Rosetta support for instance, and I am using some older DJ'ing devices. I am unconcerned with the sleep function. I never use that on my desktops anyway.
What is the issue with not shutting down? Can you give me more specifics? Do you know the status on any fixes?
Sleep is a useful gadget. On desktop PC J never use sleep. Shutdown is not completly its mean that my LCD go off, hard drive turn off but always works case coolers. J must push the button and than lenovo turn off.
This issue has no impact on Mavericks that works excellent. J try to edit DSDT but no success. Maybe someone with more experience in DSDT can solve this issue. Upgrade Lenovo BIOS to newest 04/2014, test many settings in BIOS but not change. J think that is impossible get sleep/shutdown because computer is too old.
