Build now complete, stable on S/L 10.6.7. I had to find a vid card to get past no support for OpenGL and Quartz Extreme problem but I found a cheap second hand MSI n9800gt 1G card and my head was saved from imploding. May still have a BIOS reset problem - further use and testing under way. All in all, thanks to all the forum posters and resource providers.
